SOYO (Society of Orthodox Youth Organizations) is an Archdiocese Youth Movement founded by His Eminence Metropolitan PHILIP of Thrice-blessed memory in 1969. Its main focus is to bring the youth of the Church to live out their Orthodox faith and to draw nearer to Christ through worship,witness, service and fellowship.

 

St Raphael of Brooklyn

Our Patron Saint: St. Raphael 

St. Raphael of Brooklyn was born on November 20, 1860 in Beirut, Lebanon. He was educated at the Patriarchal School in Damascus, the School of Orthodox Theology in Halki Island, Turkey, and the Theological Academy in Kiev, Russia. In 1904 St. Raphael became the first bishop to be consecrated in North America; done by Archbishop St. Tikhon of Moscow and Bishop Innocent in New York City.  His Grace continued to serve in Brooklyn, New York until his death, February 27th 1915.
